20 Students Win Donate Life Scholarships

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s Circuit Court Clerks are celebrating 20 student leaders who have each earned a $1,000 scholarship for promoting organ donation through the 2025 Donate Life Kentucky scholarship program.

Awarded for creativity, outreach and commitment to organ donor awareness, the scholarships total $20,000 statewide and mark more than 30 years of advocacy by the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks.

“The students of today are tomorrow’s advocates—and it’s inspiring to see so many young Kentuckians use their voices for good,” said Melissa Guill, Crittenden County Circuit Clerk.

The 2025 recipients come from across the state and include students who led awareness campaigns in schools, spoke publicly, and advocated for organ donation legislation.

Winners are: Miranda Brock (Harlan), Josiah Burton (Jefferson), Preslee Cundiff (Lee), Kaden Elam (Knox), Shannon Grabowski (Jefferson), Emily Greenwell (Mason), Sasha Holbrook (Kenton), Byron Kirkland-Lundy (Adair), Jacob Leach (Scott), Kadence Livers (Nelson), Ava Macy (Breckinridge), Rex McKiddy (Whitley), Makenzie Ross (Harrison), Marley Spencer (Anderson), Tabitha Stevenson (Grayson), Sarah Cate Thompson (Jefferson), Jonathan Voorhees (Boone), Maggie Woods (Fayette), Zayna Yazigi (McCracken) and Gracie Zutterman (Nelson).

Since 1992, the clerks have raised over $20 million for education and helped register more than 2 million organ donors—over 90% of whom signed up at a clerk’s office.

“Even as licensing services shift to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, we remain devoted to this cause,” Guill said.

Shelley Snyder, executive director of the Donate Life Kentucky Trust, credited the Circuit Clerks with building “a culture of generosity” across all 120 counties.
