The five-day camp will focus on acting, movement, voice, and stage presence, all culminating in a final performance at 4 p.m., June 27 at Fohs Hall. The show is free and open to the public, showcasing what students learn throughout the week.
“Theatre opens doors to confidence, self-expression, and teamwork,” says Kim Vince, the camp’s producer. “Drama camp can be a life-changing experience for kids. It gives them a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated for exactly who they are.”
Camp organizers say getting involved in acting at a young age helps children build confidence, communication skills, and creativity. It is also a great way to prepare for future acting experiences. The camp provides and hones skills needed in productions that young campers may audition for in the future.
"Last year's drama camp was one of the best programs the Community Arts Foundation has ever produced," said Vince. "I hope parents of kids who are interested in the arts will take the opportunity to let their children learn and shine through our camp."
As with most camps, the friendships and bonds formed in theatre often last long after camp week, providing kids with a sense of belonging and encouragement. It also introduces them to a community of peers who share a passion for storytelling and the arts.
Camp tuition is $75, and the deadline to register is June 13. Space is limited. Register and find more information at www.communityartsfoundation.org/events/dramacamp.
